Maple Sugar House

Last Sunday we took a day trip up to a nearby maple farm. It was a wonderful educational afternoon. We learned the legend of how maple syrup was discovered, how the collection is done, sap filtered and pumped into the boiler. We were taught about the differences in syrup types as well as the difference between Canadian standard and Vermont standard. This farm is free to the public and they do this on top of full time jobs. During the outside talk, Farmer Paul was talking about freezing and skimming the ice off sap buckets. He jumped and stomped down to demonstrate kids stomping on puddles. Unbeknownst to him he was actually standing in a puddle. When he landed he splashed quite a few of us but most of our family. I am pretty sure the kids enjoyed themselves and have a new love for maple syrup. We were able to taste raw sap, 8% sugar concentration and then fresh syrup. If in the Boston area during March please visit

Here is a slide show of our time there.

Sounds like a great outing for people in the North! Did I mention I wish I lived in the north? Fun

Mission Statement

I would like our home to be clutter-free, inviting and peaceful. My goal is to decide which tasks I need to do or delegate each day so we can maintain a better, more organized lifestyle. My goals also include providing an environment where my children can learn to be productive and Godly people. I want my family and others to know that this house is one where they can be free to live simply, love deeply and laugh abundantly. I want to be able to invite friends over without having to clean up for three days beforehand.
