Last night I was reminded of my awesome responsibility but yet I am not alone and have help on my path. As the girls get ready for bed they WILL not settle down for the night without story time and prayers. Even at three years old they have begun to rely on talking to Jesus and that just melts my mother's heart felt desire to raise godly children. I also can so understand the sadness that mom felt as we were growing up and not following God's path.
There are a few pure sounds in this world, a child's laughter and a child saying prayers to Jesus.

Maple Sugar House
Last Sunday we took a day trip up to a nearby maple farm. It was a wonderful educational afternoon. We learned the legend of how maple syrup was discovered, how the collection is done, sap filtered and pumped into the boiler. We were taught about the differences in syrup types as well as the difference between Canadian standard and Vermont standard. This farm is free to the public and they do this on top of full time jobs. During the outside talk, Farmer Paul was talking about freezing and skimming the ice off sap buckets. He jumped and stomped down to demonstrate kids stomping on puddles. Unbeknownst to him he was actually standing in a puddle. When he landed he splashed quite a few of us but most of our family. I am pretty sure the kids enjoyed themselves and have a new love for maple syrup. We were able to taste raw sap, 8% sugar concentration and then fresh syrup. If in the Boston area during March please visit Turtle Lane Maple Farm

New project
Recently I came across Prayer Shawls. I was given a Friendship Shawl for Christmas. Now I am working on my second Prayer Shawl. The first was made for my Gram and it has been given back to me since she passed away. While working on the shawls I feel a blessing to my time with God in the midst of the sometimes chaotic life I lead. For more information please check out the following link. I will post pictures of my second shawl when it's done. Prayer Shawl Ministry information

Simple things
Last night when Brian got home, I told him to change clothes because we were going out to dinner just him and I. So since Nique is here, I have a babysitter to watch the kids without having to "pay" horrendous rates. It was so nice. We went to this all you can eat Japanese buffet. We were able to sit and enjoy our food and each other's company without the kids climbing all over us.
Yesterday I made banana pancakes for the kids for dinner before we left. They were a HUGE hit and kids have already asked for more. Too funny.

Girls 3rd Birthday
We have been planning for a long time to take the girls to American Girl. Today we took four little three year old girls there for their third birthday. We had so much fun. The store was EMPTY because of the snow. We had the best time and the staff was SO FRIENDLY. The two main sales people were helpful and talked even to the girls, not just to the adults. The girls were like kids in a candy store playing with everything. We settled on the Itty Bitty Twins with sleeping "bags" for the babies and a bag for each girl to carry their baby inside.

Over the weekend
On our way from Kentucky to Boston we stopped at Arlington National Cemetery to pay respects to a friend of Nique and Bruce who passed away last year fighting for our country. Now I have been to Arlington back in 1991. I remember going to the Tomb of the Unknowns and Kennedy's grave. This time I wander for three hours. To be there, walking and reading the gravestones it makes me proud to be an American where we have both men and women who have died for our country and their families who have supported them. There are many who served and lived long lives and then were buried there as well.
