Sleep Study

Last night I had my second sleep study in five weeks. Now I went to the neurologist at the beginning of December for follow up care for my migraines. She took one look at my throat, listened to my history, lack of decent sleep, and thinks I have sleep apnea. The first study was ok, I did my normal 4-5 wake ups but the tech never came into put the CPAP on me. 2 weeks ago the neurologist called and requested a second sleep study to be done with a CPAP machine. I have been filled with lots of dread for the past two weeks. How is this going to affect Brian's sleep, my sleep, how comfortable will it be? Lots of questions. So last night I got some more answers. I don't like the mask. It is uncomfortable. My mouth is dry. The mask sat over my nose and mouth but didn't allow for mouth breathing. The machine was actually pretty quiet, kinda a low hum. One thing the technician told me last night is "sleep apnea untreated puts people at a higher risk for stroke and heart attack".
Now I am sharing a picture so y'all can see how I looked all hooked up with the CPAP and all the monitor wires.

I go back to the doctor on Feb 26th to discuss the results and see if I get a CPAP or if there is another alternative.

a funny

There was once a man and wife named Mr & Mrs Butter
They lived in a town called Sandwich.
They had two children named Apple and Peanut.
They had a pet cow, pig and chicken called Roast Beef, Ham and Egg Salad.
Their house was made of pumpernickel painted with ketchup and mustard trim located on Mayonnaise Court

OK today we came across this very CUTE town called Sandwich, Ma. The above is what came to mind while we were driving through town.

weekend

Andrea got in Thursday night we went to dinner and had a wonderful evening. We stayed up LATE LATE catching up. Friday, I had to take Brian into work so we could have the van. So we loaded the kids up and drove ALL around Boston. We drove by Louise May Alcotts house. it is the setting for Little Women. We didn’t get to go in but I will be going back again later. It was too cold to go out with the kids though.

Saturday morning we went to church and came home and I crashed on the couch. When I got up we just chilled out the rest the evening other than a trip to the store for a few minor groceries.

This morning Andrea and I got up to SNOW but we decided to go ahead and brave the city. Brian took us to the commuter rail station and we rode that into Boston. When we got off down there, I took a wrong turn but we ended up on Beacon Hill. We walked by the Old West church that was built originally in 1737 and then rebuilt in 1806. We walked through the Otis House. The OTIS HOUSE was absolutely amazing architecture looking up Beacon Hill. It was very pretty inside. Not a place for young kids though. Then we left there and walked over to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market place for lunch. We then walked over to the Old state House. It was SO AMAZING and awing to think that we were walking where our forefathers of America once walked and planned the Boston Tea Party and read the Declaration of Independence on July 18, 1776. We walked over to the OLD NORTH CHURCH and Paul Revere’s house. The Old North was closed today (possibly because of the weather) We then walked to Cobb’s Hill Cemetery. The sexton that put the lantern’s in Old North Church for Paul Revere’s midnight run is buried there. Can I tell you I absolutely love the history of Boston? I will be taking the kids back to the Old State House for a MAJOR history lesson. It has some hands on areas for kids. It has a jar of tea that was carried in one of the Patriots boot. It was so nice to get out without the kids.

Tomorrow we are going to the movies and then to meet up with another of Andrea’s

Second Memory Verse

Thanks Kristy for the reminder...

Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong hand,
And His arm shall rule for Him;
Behold, His reward is with Him,
And His work before Him.
He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young.

Isaiah 40:10-11

We serve a God that is so mighty He can hold the ocean in Hands but cares for us like a shepherd cares for His sheep. He promises to lead me as a mom.

For those that want to join me in memorizing scripture this year, please do so. I have joined Living Proof Ministries challenge. Living Proof Ministries

Tuesdays thoughts

January is almost half over already and where has the time gone?

Sunday night I went up to NH to get my dad from the airport. His plane was arriving too late for it to really feel safe for my aunt and uncle to come down through the mountain pass. It was a nice short visit with him. Yesterday we drove up to NH and met my aunt and cousin so that Dad can go visit with Gram. She is struggling again. I hate to see her in this pain. I feel for my dad, this is a tough time for him but dad not being a man of many words doesn't always share his thoughts. Praying for God's glory and will in Gram's healing.

The girls are getting even more girly. The absolutely love their dolls and babies. Now they are starting to get into playing dress up with my shoes and beads. I got them some wooden dolls with Velcro and felt clothes for quiet time on Sabbath. They are loving dressing their dolls. Mom got them something similar for their upcoming birthday and I am excited for them to get the other "dolls" As I am typing both girls are playing with babies in their stroller/carriers. Bekah if I let her would change a 1000 times a day. Both of them love to "rat" on the other one. Just this morning Anneliese keeps telling me "mommy Bekah change" Anneliese walks up to my computer and sees my mom and dad and say's "My gamma and Bekah gampa"

The boys are really into Legos now. Just last week I was listening to them talk while playing. This is the conversation

Leo is saying come on man we all have to go to the concert or you will be the only one not to see the 1st Aerosmith song
Caleb is singing here comes the bride all dressed in white
Leo is saying i am going to the concert,
Caleb says i will video it
Leo no i want to watch it live not on a video
Leo is humming here comes the bride
Caleb i just bought another ticket
Leo is begging Caleb now can i go now can i can i

All of this while playing at their Lego table and with Lego men. They also built a "children's museum" a few days before and were talking about all the things to do in the museum.

Brian came home and decided that the boys will use the Bible for their handwriting. Every day they are going write scriptures down based on their birth month and day. So they are starting in Genesis and going through the Bible writing and learning scripture this year. I love the support Brian gives me in homsechooling the boys.

Sunday morning the kids had on a Christian program and these “animals” are discussing doing chores. The little bird is complaining about not wanting to do chores, The older bird is telling how chores bring joy and make the world a better place. So this dialogue goes on for a few moments. Then the little bird says I don’t have chores to do, it’s my way of being a joyful giver and God loves a joyful giver. I hadn’t really put it into the exact process of that when I do for my family without complaining I am being a joyful giver to both my family and to God. So from today forward my motto will be “I am a joyful giver doing for my family and God.”

I guess I have rambled on enough today. I am off to do some work and give joyfully to my family.

Snow Play

On New Years Eve we were blessed with some "sugar sprinkles" We got about 6 - 8 inches. So on Friday the adults took the four girls out to play in the snow for the first time. It was a lot of fun. Some snow angels were made, a mini snow ball fight amongst the four adults with some help from the girls. Here's the slide show of our fun.

I am sure I will have more pictures including ones of the boys playing in the snow over this winter:)

Happy New Year

Welcome 2009

This year brings many joys and some sadness too. We are welcoming 2009 in a different city than 2008. We welcomed 2009 in with good friend and our kids. We watched the ball drop in New York City live instead of recorded. We had about 4-6 inches of snow on New Year's Eve. I am so blessed to be surrounded with family. We miss are family that is so far away from us. We are blessed to have our friend's home from Iraq yet sad to have lost some in the cost of war, illness and disease. My kids are such a blessing to me. The girls are fully potty trained and out of diapers. It is such an odd feeling to say I am out of the diaper stage. It's been nearly 10 years. 10 years ago today Brian & I were wondering the mall in Schaumburg, IL and went to Build a Bear and bought Leo his first Build a Bear. I was 13 weeks pregnant and over joyed to be having baby after several years of trying. Now today my youngest daughter brings me her Barbie to put a "ponie in the hair" I am truly blessed.

I am looking forward to 2009 and all the ups and downs that comes our way. With God's help we can handle it all one step and day at a time.

Mission Statement

I would like our home to be clutter-free, inviting and peaceful. My goal is to decide which tasks I need to do or delegate each day so we can maintain a better, more organized lifestyle. My goals also include providing an environment where my children can learn to be productive and Godly people. I want my family and others to know that this house is one where they can be free to live simply, love deeply and laugh abundantly. I want to be able to invite friends over without having to clean up for three days beforehand.
